DIY Pillowcase dress and goddess headband
Summertime is here and I'm always looking for ways to be frugal. :) I've seen so many pillowcase dresses for little girls and decided to try one for my daughter. My family had an All White youth conference to attend this past weekend, and my daughter didn't have anything white to wear so I decided to try it out. I actually didn't use a pillowcase I used an old pattern that I already had in the closet. The pattern is by "it's so easy it's Simplicity" and the pattern number is 4927. I used the pattern for the sizing.
Once I got the sizing right I cut about 5 inches of the bottom off and added the contrasting color. The only materials needed once the dress is cut are shown below.
Stitch up the sides and add the ribbon around the neck and you've got your pillowcase dress that cost under $10, depending on what supplies you already have on hand.
She also helped me make a rosette headband with gold ribbon and some leftover contrasting fabric in mint. Here is a close up of what I decided to call the goddess headband. :)
Happy sewing!
