Locumentaries

Hello 2017! It's been a while since I've posted on this blog-and I do mean a while. I fell off the bandwagon after my first failed attempt at starting locs. It lasted about five months and it was going well for the most part, but I got bored and I missed my fro (or so I thought I did anyway). Nevertheless, I've decided to start again. I'm a day late, but on January 2nd I went and got my hair comb coiled. I started my twists after having a tapered fro, as you can see from the photos below.  Initially wanted to interlock right away like, but the loctitian I went to suggested getting them twisted a couple times first and then interlocking. I assumed since my hair was cut sort of short in a tapered fro that it was too short to start locs and that it wouldn't "look right". Then I said to myself, " How does my hair need to be for it to "look right"? Your hair doesn't need to be a certain length or cut a certain way to begin your loc journey. It just has to work for you. The first set of photos are before pictures of my tapered hair before I got the twists put in.
I really have to get adjusted to tying my hair down at night with a scarf. Although, the scarf is probably my favorite accessory and I love wearing them on my head in many ways-I have yet to grasp the importance of sleeping in them.   I get anxious when it's time for bed and I want to dive right in. But I'm aware that if I want to keep my twists looking as fresh as possible for work then I must tie my hair down. The next picture is from yesterday, right after I finished getting my hair twisted.
....and these are from today Jan 3rd
So I did ok with the first night. ;-)

I am really looking forward to this journey of patience, and all that my journey of patience brings along. If you're interested in seeing old photos from my first attempt at locs you can view them by simply scrolling down to a few photos below this blog post.

Thanks for stopping by!
